The Deeper Story of Driftwood Deep

I’ve always been drawn to the laid-back, "coastal-cool" feeling of surf and skate culture. I love the vibe, the comfort, and the sense of belonging that comes with wearing those brands. But for me, the connection was always slightly different.

I’m not a surfer, and I’m not a skater - I’m a scuba diver. That’s my home.

I’ve always felt like dive wear was split into two camps: purely technical gear for the boat, or cheap t-shirts with cheesy slogans. There wasn’t anything for the ‘surface interval’ - the everyday life between dive days. I wanted to create something different: lived-in clothing with homegrown designs that feel like a quiet nod to the deep, a way to show that you don't stop being a scuba diver just because you’re dry.

Born in the Channel. Raised by the Sea.

I’m Jade - a PADI Divemaster of 20 years, born and bred in Folkestone, Kent.

I spent a decade travelling solo and living out of a backpack, which I try to incorporate into some of my designs. But if I’m being honest, the rugged South East coast has always called me back home.

I’ve realised that life has a way of moving in cycles. Even though I’ve not worn my BCD or fins for a little while now, being a scuba diver is an identity that never truly dries out. It’s part of who I am, whether I’m at 40 meters or just walking along the pebbles.

From the Studio to the Shore.

Driftwood Deep was born right here in my hometown to bridge that gap. It’s for the scuba divers, the wild swimmers, and the explorers who find their peace when they smell the salt in the air.

This isn't just about clothing; it’s about a shared love for the water and the community we build around it.
